Beef Vindaaloo

Beef Vindaaloo

Ingredients:
1. Beef – 1 kg
2. Onion – 2 medium sized sliced
3. Green chilli – 5
4. Garlic – 1 pod
5. Ginger – 3 inch
6. Red chilli – 6
7. Cardamom – 3-4
8. Cinnamon – 2 inch
9. Cloves – 3-4
10. Cumin – 2 tea spoon
11. Fenugreek – 2 tea spoon
12. Turmeric powder – 1 tea spoon
13. Chilli powder – 3 tea spoon
14. Coriander powder – 4 tea spoon
15. Salt – to taste
16. Vinegar – 4 table spoon
17. Mustard seeds – 1 tea spoon
18. Curry leaves – Few
19. Coriander leaves – For garnish

Method

• Dry roast ingredients 7-11 in a pan and grind them to a fine powder.
• In a blender, add this powder along with ginger, garlic, red chillies, vinegar and blend to form a thick paste.
• In a pressure cooker, add oil then when hot add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
• Once the mustard seeds platter, add sliced onions and saute till its golden brown.
• Add chopped green chillies ans saute for a minute.
• Add turmeric, red chiili,coriander powders and the blended paste.
• Saute till the oil separated from the mixture.
• Add the diced beef and mix all the ingredients.
• Once everything is mixed wait until water oozes out from the beef.
• Let some of the water content evaporates and then add salt accordingly.
• Cover the lid and pressure cook it for 5 minutes under medium flame and 20 minutes under low flame.
• Once its cooked place a cooking pot on burner and put the beef from the cooker to the pot and cook until the water in it reduced and forms a thick gravy.
• Garnish it with coriander leaves, sliced green chillies and lemon pieces and can be served with rice/chapatti/roti etc.
